Submerged-arc automatic welding is one of the high-efficiency welding methods widely used in welding production. Its high-quality welds and good working conditions are widely used in the manufacture of shipbuilding, bridges, and chemical containers. Luoyang Longhui Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. successfully used submerged arc welding in two sets of cold exchange equipment for catalytic production, which not only shortened the construction period, but also improved the quality of the weld seam. However, due to lack of experience and operation and other reasons, there are still a variety of defects during welding, weakening the effective workpiece cross section of the weld, reducing the strength and toughness of the weld metal, and reducing the overall quality of the container. From field observations and X-ray film statistics, the most common defects in this batch of containers are poor weld formation, porosity, and slag inclusions and cracks.
