Oxygen eliminators and nitrogen removal agents
Since nitrogen and oxygen can cause the pores or embrittlement of the weld metal, the oxygen must be added to the flux, such as manganese and silicon. As for the self-shielded flux-cored wire, the addition of AL to the flux is also required as the nitrogen removal agent. The purpose of adding the oxygen scavenger and nitrogen remover above is to clean the filler metal.
